The Academic Excellence Committee shall propose and monitor solutions to issues of rigor, innovations, and creativity in order to sustain academic excellence in the University.

Standing Charges

  1. Propose solutions to issues arising from policies, procedures, programs, and goals that affect the academic excellence of the University.
    • Continue to support the work of Director of Core Curriculum Theresa Gaul and relevant committees in the ongoing review and revision of undergraduate Core requirements.
    • Work with registrar’s office to improve policies and communication surrounding the completion of incomplete grades.
  2. Act as a consultative body for the Faculty Senate (FS) representative to Faculty Advisory Committee for the John V. Roach Honors College and bring relevant issues to FS.
  3. Propose strategies for innovation, creativity, and rigor in university programs.
    • Complete and present previous AEC committee work surveying accessibility and disability accommodations in TCU classrooms and their impact on teaching practices and academic excellence; make recommendations for aligning accessibility with academic excellence.

Special Charges

  1. Work with the Student Relations Committee and other relevant bodies on the creation of a university committee to coordinate cross-campus efforts to support student and employee mental health.
  2. Report on impacts of departmental budget cuts on teaching, scholarship, and academic excellence.

End-of-year report 2022–2023
